A petition to sell Montana to Canada is going viral
Montana has beautiful lakes and mountains and its residents are no stranger to winter weather.
A petition to sell Montana to Canada for $1 trillion US to pay down the US national debt has gone viral, earning nearly 9,000 signatures at the time of publication.
The petition is purely satirical, but some people seem to be on board with the idea.
"This Montanan totally supports the idea," Michelle Erb said under the petition.
"I'm Montanan and hoping to join Canada without the moving costs. Let's do this," CJ Williams added.
"Please adopt us."
This isn't the first time there have been discussions about expanding Canada's borders. In 2014, Rufus Ewing, the premier of Turks and Caico, visited Ottawa and said he was "open" to a possible future marriage:

WEATHER-WISE, MONTANA IS A GOOD FIT
Montana's winters are mild compared to most of Canada, with daily highs hovering around the freezing mark in January and February and daily lows in the -10°C range.
It's home to a stretch of Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park, and has numerous lakes and trails to explore.
Sounds like Montana would fit right in.
