Grandma posing for photos on ice swept out to sea
Catherine Streng says her father and grandmother have been in Iceland since February 23.
A grandmother narrowly avoided getting lost at sea when a large piece of ice she was posing on at Diamond Beach in Jökulsárlón, Iceland, was dislodged by a wave and floated away.
Catherine Streng shared photos of her grandmother’s adventure to Twitter on February 25 after her father sent them to her.
Streng told Storyful her grandmother had received permission from the tour guide to sit on the ice, and others had posed for photos there as well.

The woman was rescued by a boat captain from Florida, Randy Lacount, who happened to be nearby.
“He waded out into the roiling water and pulled her off the iceberg as it drifted out to sea,” Streng told Storyful.
