Doctors shocked to find bees living under woman's eyelid
Here's your daily dose of nightmare fuel.
A woman in Taiwan visited her doctor suffering from a painful, swollen eye.
Upon further inspection, four tiny bees were found living under her eyelid.
The insects are known as "sweat bees", and are commonly found near fallen trees.
The woman had been visiting a relative's grave earlier that day. Doctors suspect that's when the insects flew into her eye.

BEES WERE DRINKING HER TEARS
Sweat bees are drawn to moisture and salt, which can be found in human perspiration and tears.
The team that treated the woman says if she had waited for treatment they may have had to remove her eyeball.
The bees were extracted and she is expected to make a full recovery.
SWEAT BEES IN CANADA

Sweat bees are found in several countries and are native to North America.
There are 1,000 different sweat bee species in Canada and the U.S.
They measure 6-12 mm in length and are identified by metallic black, brown or green colouring.
While the bees are commonplace, doctors stress it's extraordinarily rare for the insects to slide under someone's eyelid.
