Aside from serving as home decor this season, consider eating these orange squashes, as they can also boost the nutritional value of your daily diet, according to nutritionist Diane Murphy.
Murphy says pumpkins are full of fibre, rich in vitamin A, and bursting with flavour.
Her pro tip is to “look for the smaller sugar pumpkins—they have closed-grained flesh" and "also bring a ton of more flavour."
Murphy suggests steaming or baking pumpkins. You can also blend them into an easy fall soup.

Sugar Pumpkin Smoothie
2 cups almond milk (or other dairy free milk)
½ cup pumpkin puree
3 Tbsp hemp hearts
½ - 1 tsp honey
½ tsp vanilla extract
¼ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp cardamom
¼ tsp ground ginger
¼ tsp ground turmeric
Add everything into the blender and blend until smooth.
