Senior dog won't give up on winter walking, learns to sled instead
As our pets age, the winter can be harsh on them. However, creativity and a positive attitude can go a long way — and for 14-year-old Tess, it’s changed her life.
Tess, the Golden Retriever from Newmarket, Ont., was recently diagnosed with canine vestibular disease.
“The episodes come in waves," Tess' owner, Lauren Roy, says.
"It greatly impacts her balance.”
But Tess' family could not leave her behind as they explore Ontario through the winter, so Tess has learned to adapt to a sled.

“She was a little skeptical at first, but later realized it's a great way for her to keep up with what she loves,” says Lauren.
“Her sled adventures can last up to an hour and she can usually be seen sledding around York Region Forest.”
Her owners have added blankets for extra comfort and grip. It's an incredibly cute sight!
