Dogs sweat in the summer, too, but can a haircut cool them off?
Unlike humans who can shed layers in hot weather, dogs have to tough it out with their fur, which raises the question: is giving them a haircut the best solution to keep them cool?
It's natural to shed some layers in the summer when it's hot out, but imagine how your dog feels.
With the summer upon us, bringing the heat and humidity with it at times, it may seem natural to grab your clippers and shave down your dog in an effort to help cool it off, but is that the best thing to do?
Nathan Coleman, a reporter at The Weather Network, spoke to Lisa Parsons, manager of the Pampered Paws Inn, about whether shaving a dog will actually work.
"Most people think dogs sweat through their skin...they don't actually sweat through their coats. They actually sweat through their feet," said Parsons.
