Giant pumpkin weigh-off: Looks can be deceiving
It has been a labour of love for giant pumpkin growers in Nova Scotia as they work to overcome Mother Nature’s challenges
Like everything else in 2020, the Annapolis Valley Giant Vegetable Growers annual weigh-off was a bit different this year.
Normally, the front parking lot at Glad Gardens in Waterville, Nova Scotia, is full of spectators and farmers alike, both gawking at the enormous weight of the giant pumpkins when they hit the scale. This year, it was growers-only due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Reporter Nathan Coleman had the chance to speak to a few of them, who explained why the pumpkins' looks were a little deceiving this year. Watch the video above for his report.
