5 things you'll need for you and your dog's winter walk
They don't like the cold any more than you do.

We are very thoroughly in the depths of winter, and for dog owners, what’s true for you is true for your pups: If you’re cold, they’re cold.
And no matter how cold or snowy it is, they’ll still need their walks. To make that less of an ordeal for both you and them, we had a hunt around for some products we think will help when you’re outdoors and when you get home.
SlowTon Winter Dog Coat
Amazon.ca
The first order of business is the most obvious: a proper coat to protect your dog from the ravages of the winter cold. There are plenty of options out there, but we liked this one, the SlowTon Winter Dog Coat, best. Coming in most of the sizes you could need, and lined with fleece, it also has a built-in turtleneck to keep your pet’s neck as warm as possible.
Namsan Long-Legged Dog Boots
Amazon.ca
While you’re traipsing through the snow or along an icy sidewalk in good winter boots (we hope), remember that your dog is basically barefoot, and could use some protection too. We picked these Namsan Long-Legged Dog Boots not only for their durability, but because they’re a little longer than most, protecting more of the leg and hopefully sparing you from having to pull off any snowballs that form in your pet’s fur during particularly snowy jaunts.
Musher's Secret Pet Paw Protection Wax
Amazon.ca
Another option to protect your pet’s paws: Musher's Secret Pet Paw Protection Wax. Paws are just as prone to damage and cracking as your own skin in the cold, dry winter air, to say nothing of direct contact with ice, snow and salt. This wax will seal those paws effectively against those hazards. Comes in 60 and 200 gram packs.
Dexas MudBuster Portable Dog Paw Cleaner
Amazon.ca
If you opt not to swathe your pup’s paws in boots before heading out, they’re likely to come back a tad dirty, particularly if there’s been a muddy thaw or they’ve been traipsing through dirty snow. In that case, we’d recommend using this Dexas MudBuster Portable Dog Paw Cleaner as soon as you get home. Coming in various sizes, it doesn’t hurt your dog when used, and is easy to clean once you’re finished.
Clip-On Dog Collar Light
Amazon.ca
You might ask ‘what’s a Clip-On Dog Collar Light doing on a winter-specific list’? The answer would be that though the days are getting brighter, it still gets dark very early, making visibility a challenge. This LED, USB-chargeable collar light will make sure you and your dog are easy to spot by motorists and other pedestrians.
