This cat did not want to be rescued from flood water
A cat stranded by floodwater in Salem, Oregon this week put up a fight when a rescue team tried to save it.
The Salem Fire Department shared footage of the retrieval on Facebook.
The cat is seen perched on a wooden post, which it abandons and dives into the water when a firefighter approaches.

The firefighter grabs the flailing cat and manages to get it into a rescue boat where it is wrapped in a jacket by another rescue worker.
Captain Andrew Grimmer told local media it was released to higher ground and immediately ran away.
