Tiger escapes flooding by hiding in house, shocks family

A Royal Bengal tiger was discovered relaxing in a house after she escaped the Kaziranga National Park when severe flooding hit Assam, India.
The homeowner and his family immediately ran outside when they spotted the tiger and contacted the Wildlife Trust of India (WTI).
The trust was able to lead the tiger back to the park after fireworks were set off to wake her up and blocked traffic for over an hour so she could walk back.
It is currently monsoon season in this part of the world and approximately 90 per cent of the park became flooded after the recent heavy rains.
This park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is home to the world's largest population of endangered one-horned rhinoceroses.

Flooding during monsoon season can force animals to seek higher ground, which can cause them to end up in unusual locations.
Approximately 50 wild animals have died while trying to escape the flooded park, and many of these deaths occurred because the animals were hit by cars when they were trying to cross highways, according to India Today.
Rescue teams in the park are using boats to save the stranded animals as the flooding in this region continues. The heavy rains are expected to continue and over 20 people in Assam have died due to the floods.
