Toilet paper chemicals found in endangered killer whales

Scientists at the University of British Columbia have discovered dangerous chemicals used in the production of toilet paper in the systems of orcas in British Columbia waters.
When researchers analyzed samples from whales taken between 2006 and 2018, they made a dismal discovery: the presence of 4-nonylphenol, or 4NP, a chemical found in toilet paper.
It is also found in soaps and detergents and is listed as a toxic chemical in Canada.
Experts say the chemical can affect reproduction and cognitive development in whales.
Now, researchers want to work with policymakers to prevent the chemical from making its way into waterways.
