Photographer captures life by visiting every country in the world
Candid Closeup is a weekly segment that features Canadians from coast to coast who love to share their weather. In this episode, The Weather Network's Kim MacDonald had the opportunity to speak with Stephen Fenech about his many travels.
From North Korea to Afghanistan, and to the base camp on Mount Everest, Stephen Fenech has managed to visit every country in the world.
It took 36 years to reach nearly 200 countries, but he finally did so, finishing his global journey on the tiny island nation of Nauru in March 2023.
He’s photographed wildlife on all five continents, with Antarctica being a favourite of his because of the "pristine vastness of the icy tundra," he noted. Fenech has hiked mountains and scuba-dived in oceans, and makes it a mission to immerse himself in the culture of each place he visits.
In this Candid Closeup, the Toronto native shares some of his spectacular photos and a few of his favourite places with Kim MacDonald in the video above.
