Thousands have flocked to High Park in hopes of getting a glimpse of the famous trees

Cherry trees are blooming across the GTA and one of the most popular destinations to see the beautiful flowers has attracted thousands of visitors over the past few days.

High Park, located in the west-end of Toronto, is home to hundreds of cherry trees, and many peaked on May 10. Once the flowers peak they are expected to last between three to ten days, and during this time High Park has closed off road access to non-essential vehicles.

Many of the cherry trees in High Park were planted 60 years ago when the Japanese ambassador gifted 2,000 trees to the city of Toronto on behalf of the people of Tokyo.
