Canada's Thanksgiving weekend forecast: You may need to plan ahead
Will the weather be wild or warm for your weekend plans?
With Thanksgiving right around the corner, many Canadians are getting their weekend plans in order. Thanks to its temperamental nature, fall weather will likely play a role in those plans, whether you'll be navigating the roads or navigating a corn maze. We take a look at the pattern ahead and your best options to make the most of your holiday weekend weather, below.

BRITISH COLUMBIA
Your best bet: Heading out for a fall hike and taking a peek at the full moon.
British Columbians can look forward to a Thanksgiving weekend with temperatures right around seasonal -- from the high single digits in the north to the low teens along the South Coast. Saturday does hold the risk of scattered showers, both of rain and high-elevation snow, but impacts to the South Coast and southern Interior are expected to be minimal. That should make for prime viewing for the Oct. 13 full Hunter's Moon in much of the province.
THE PRAIRIES:
Your best bet: Staying in, staying cozy, and baking up a storm.
With the region playing host to the most active weather this long weekend, those on the Prairies may be better off sticking close to home, particularly in Manitoba. A Colorado low creeping up from the U.S. is expected to bring significant snow and rain to the eastern Prairies, while it also helps to pull down cold air in the west. Expect driving conditions to be challenging for the Trans-Canada and Yellowhead in Manitoba for much of the weekend, while temperatures will linger 5 to 10 degrees below seasonal across the board. All in all, some excellent weather to stay inside and whip up your favourite holiday foods.
ONTARIO & QUEBEC:
Your best bet: Picking apples and finding the perfect pumpkin
While perfect fall weather will lead up to the Thanksgiving long weekend, a 'cool front' cutting through southern Ontario and Quebec threatens showers for most on Saturday. The good news is that the front isn't likely to bring a blast of frosty air with it, leaving afternoon temperatures right around seasonal -- in the low-to-mid teens -- through the weekend. Sunday and Monday will offer better weather for finding the perfect jack-o'-lantern or checking out your local orchard (but keep your umbrella handy for lingering spotty showers).
ATLANTIC CANADA:
Your best bet: Scoping out the fall colour
Fall colours have been slow to arrive for much of the Maritimes, but they're out in force now. At least one day this weekend will feature great weather for taking in the sights. Unfortunately, a system lurking south of the region is expected to bring showers at times and, so far, model guidance has been elusive as to the specific timing. At present, Saturday looks like the wetter day for the Maritimes, with rain spreading into Newfoundland for Sunday. However, this southerly flow will bring slightly above-average temperatures into the region well into next week.
