Slick start in parts of southern Ontario sparks bus cancellations
Slippery start to Tuesday morning for parts of southern Ontario as first of two Colorado lows approach the province.
Residents in parts of southern Ontario woke to a thin glaze of ice early Tuesday morning as a Colorado low quickly slipped across the region.
Parts of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) reported light, freezing drizzle as areas north and west of Toronto such as London reported a thin coating of ice.
The freezing rain has prompted some school bus delays and cancellations. Some schools and all buses have been cancelled in Huron-Perth. Buses have been cancelled for all of Simcoe county, parts of Grey county, parts of Dufferin county near Orangeville, and parts of Halton region by Georgetown.
Freezing rain and ice pellets will still remain a concern throughout the morning hours as temperatures away from the southern Great Lakes remain at or below the freezing mark a few hours longer.
Precipitation is forecast to remain light so any ice accretion will be minimal at most.

As the day progresses, temperatures are expected to climb above the freezing mark from west to east across the region.
There will be a fairly large temperature difference between southwestern Ontario and eastern Ontario with a nearly 15 degree temperature range throughout the afternoon.
Parts of the GTA and southwestern Ontario can expect to see some periods of showers through the afternoon hours, with eastern Ontario towards Ottawa are forecast to receive some light snow throughout the afternoon into the evening.
Accumulations are expected to be minimal in these areas with higher totals forecast towards the Nickel Belt.
