Montreal nearly goes all of September above 20-degree temperatures
By the end of Monday, Montreal, Que., will almost have gone the entire month of September at temperatures above the 20-degree mark, a record for the city
While parts of Canada shivered under below-freezing temperatures this month, bottoming out at -21 C, Montreal, Que., has enjoyed a rather contrasting and mild September (for the most part) thus far.
By the end of Monday, Sept. 30, Montreal will likely record its most number of days this month above 20 C. With a projected high of 21 C on Monday at the airport, if it comes to fruition, that will give the major Quebec city 26 days of temperatures that exceeded 20 C in the month of September.
DON'T MISS: First -20C of the season takes Canada one step closer to winter
Although September still contains the last three weeks of summer, Montreal's feat is still impressive.
The beginning of October will also be mostly sunny and warm, with high temperatures again reaching the lower 20s.
However, widespread rain is expected to develop from west to east on Tuesday night and into Wednesday as a front tracks across the region, tapping into moisture from the remnants of Hurricane Helene. The result will be a cooldown of near-seasonal temperatures for midweek.
Temperatures should rebound for a few days late this week and upcoming weekend. However, another cold front is expected early in the second week of October, followed by a few days of cooler weather. Warmer-than-normal temperatures are expected to return and dominate during the second half of October and into early November.
