The victim had been flown to Calgary for treatment, but succumbed to her injuries

An ice climber injured in an avalanche earlier this week in the B.C. Rockies has died of her injuries.

CBC reported Monday the victim, a 30-year-old woman, was participating in a guided ice climb on Mount Stephen in Yoho National Park, near Field, B.C., when the avalanche happened.

She was recovered and airlifted to Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary.

Early on Wednesday, the Canadian Press reported the woman had died of her injuries. No other information was available and the victim's name has not been released.

Avalanche danger in the area at the time of the incident, as reported by Avalanche Canada, was estimated as moderate at the alpine level and moderate at the treeline level and lower.
