Have you ever stared at a beer bottle and wondered why it's brown? Wonder no more.
Believe it or not, it all has to do with sitting in the sun — similar to how sunglasses shield your eyes from harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays.
In the early days, beer-makers were concerned about the damage UV rays could cause to their product if the bottles were left sitting in the sun for an extender period of time.

To avoid the beer changing colour or taste as it remained still in the bottle, dark-brown glass worked as an added layer of protection from the sun.
