Major vehicle pileup occurs amid snow squalls on Pennsylvania highway
The accidents occurred Monday during bursts of intense snow in localized snow squalls, leading to slippery roads and whiteout conditions at the time of the pileup.
There were as many as 50-60 vehicles involved in a significant pileup on a Pennsylvania interstate Monday morning, according to reports.
While the official cause hasn't been specified, the accidents occurred during bursts of intense snow in localized snow squalls, leading to slippery roads and whiteout conditions at the time of the pileup.
As a result, there have been multiple deaths and more than a dozen injuries reported. Following the crash, it was reported that emergency workers walked nearly 10 kilometres on the icy, snow-covered highway to free motorists trapped in their vehicles -- many of which were on fire.
