Photos and videos of flooding have trickled out of B.C. as an atmospheric river continues to soak parts of the province
An atmospheric river washing over British Columbia this weekend has triggered flooding in some communities across the South Coast.
Persistent waves of heavy rainfall, fuelled by a Category 4 atmospheric river, have filled gauges and waterways alike throughout the region.

Widespread flooding has been reported as more than 150 mm of rain has already fallen across portions of Vancouver Island and the South Coast. Locally, more than 300 mm of rain has been reported in parts of the former.
The heavy rain was especially ill-timed given that Saturday was B.C.’s provincial election.
Another push of heavy rainfall is expected throughout the region again on Sunday. Hazards still at play Sunday include localized flooding, swollen rivers and creeks, water pooling on roads, increased risk of hydroplaning, reduced visibilities while driving and minor coastal flooding.
